Radiocarbon or Carbon dating is a technique used by scientist to date bones, wood, paper and cloth. Carbon reacts identically to Carbon and is rapidly oxidised to form Carbon Dioxide. Which radiation is used in carbon dating all living organisms on Earth are made up of organic molecules that contain Carbon atoms derived from the atmosphere, they therefore contain Carbon atoms. Therefore half of the Carbon has decayed after years. When living things die, tissue is no longer being replaced and the radioactive decay of 14 C becomes apparent.
